LA Doctors Symphony Orchestra to open season Nov. 12

The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra (LADSO), under the baton of Ivan Shulman, Music Director, will open its 2010 – 2011 (57th Annual Season) on Friday, November 12, 2010 in their new permanent artistic home at the historic Ebell of Los Angeles. Shulman begins his third decade as the organization’s leader with this season.

The concert is supported, in part, by a grant from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

The concert program will feature the World Premiere of composer Karim Elmahmoudi’s “Ancient Dreams,” a work specifically commissioned for LADSO.

Horn Soloists featured in the concert include: Dylan Hart (Guest Artist), Ryan Ramey (Guest Artist), Matthew Lussier and Jacqueline Shannon (Guest Artist).

WHAT: The program will include the World Premiere of composer Karim Elmahmoudi’s “Ancient Dreams,” which is drawn from ancient mythology, universal themes and epic storytelling. Other repertoire to be performed will include: Robert Schumann’s “Konzertstücke for 4 Horns and Orchestra, Op. 86” featuring Horn Soloists, Dylan Hart, Ryan Ramey, Matthew Lussier and Jacqueline Shannon. The rarely heard “Symphony No. 1 in G minor” written by renowned Russian composer, Vasily Sergeyevich Kalinnikov, will complete the bill.
